With a childhood filled with drama and music, Rosie Leishman has always loved performing. Rosie grew up in Auckland city and attended Diocesan School for Girls for 13 years, before moving up to her home in Matakana and then down to study in Canterbury.

Rosie is passionate about theatre, public speaking and music and has been Speech and Drama teacher for two years. At school Rosie was Arts Prefect, Kapa Haka Leader and head chorister. Alongside her 8 years of classical singing training and playing various other instruments, Rosie studied Speech & Drama with Trinity College for 11 years, completing her ATCL exam with Distinction.

From the young age of 4, Rosie was a member of the National Youth Theatre Company and had lead roles in 14 productions over 14 years ranging from Annie, The Artful Dodger and Peter Pan to Cosette in Les Miserables.

Rosie found a passion for Shakespeare in high school and was a Shakespeare Globe Centre NZ finalist for 4 years. She gained entry to NSSP in 2021 and received various awards including 'Best Emerging Director', 'Best Communication with the Audience' and 'Best Vocal Projection'.

In 2022, Rosie was cast in a feature film shot in Banks Peninsula with Taika Waititi’s production company Piki Films that is set for release next year.
She’s in her third and final year studying Journalism down South at the University of Canterbury, where Rosie is harnessing her skill of communication, writing, talking to people and telling stories.

Rosie's goal is to make sure every student is given the opportunity to find what they love most about performing and encourage them to explore this. She loves inspiring kids to make the most of all the arts can offer and be a part of a special group of students who share a passion for performing and learning. Rosie's classes are a warm and welcoming class environment for every student to develop their communication and confidence skills and have a great time!
